Topic: What is Dividend Yield | Why Dividend Yield is important Dividend yield indicates how much a company pays dividend every year relative to its share price. Dividend yield is calculated as dividend per share divided by price per share. Dividend yield is good parameter to judge an investment scheme. Investors who prefer more cash flow every year should invest in stocks that has higher dividend yield. But lower dividend yield doesn’t necessarily indicate a bad investment. A company may retain its profit and reinvest rather than paying higher dividend and there is no problem with that. Higher dividend yield usually indicate lower risk hence a better investment option.
